Although your work on-site is generally carried out after the building has reached lock-up stage and the wall linings have been installed, you still need to understand how the structure has been put together and what materials are used.

This is because different materials require particular fixings and installation techniques.

The structural system used will also affect the way the other trades do their work, including the methods used to run plumbing pipes and electrical wires.
