Once the installation phase commences, the work will need to be carefully coordinated to make sure that the different stages are completed in the right sequence and within the set time frames.
You need to monitor the tradespeople closely so that they don't get in each others' way, or have to wait for something else to be completed before they can finish their own work.

Sequence of work for a kitchen renovation
The usual sequence of on-site work for a kitchen renovation is as follows:
- disconnect all services, such as power, water and gas
- remove old cabinets, appliances and fittings
- relocate windows and walls, if necessary
- install basic plumbing and electrics
- install new flooring, if necessary
- install new cabinets, bench tops and tiling
- install appliances and lighting
- install plumbing fixtures
- seal and paint
- carry out a final inspection.
